Mammography
Mammography systems are inspected according to HARP, CAR, and OBSP requirements. By meeting all of these standards, you will know your mammography system is performing up to and exceeding the minimum requirements. Alan is CCPM Board Certified in Mammography Physics and therefore able to provide CAR_MAP Physicist Inspections.
Computed Tomography
CT systems are inspected according to Safety Code 35 recommendations. Laser accuracy and alignment, CT number, and CTDI evaluations are some of the many tests Xspect Inc. performs. Although it is not required to have your CT system undergo annual medical physics inspections, Xspect Inc. encourages this so that your system can be evaluated to meet benchmarks regarding system performance and patient dose.
DXA Unit Precision Study and Shewhart Chart Implementation
Since DXA units report BMD to three decimal places, it is vital to implement assessments of system performance in order to know the unit is accurate. Shewhart charts and precision studies are essential to a QC program for DXA units. Xspect Inc. will provide inspections and assistance to your site to implement these essentials into your practice.
Magnetic Resonance
MR Imaging system performance is evaluated according to the American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation program requirements. These include assessments of mechanical integrity, image quality, and recommendations to the site regarding MR Safety.
Computed Radiography
Some of the tests Xspect will evaluate for include exposure index accuracy, spatial and contrast resolution, and erasure thoroughness.
Medical Monitor Displays
Xspect evaluates medical monitors according to ACR recommendations and CAR/OBSP requirements (mammography only).
Quality Control Program Implementation
Xspect will work with your site to help establish or improve an already existing QC program. We will provide on-site training to MRT’s for routine tests, as well as perform annual inspections on equipment where applicable. Xspect uses the latest recommendations and requirements from Safety Code 35 and various American recommendations/requirements.
Radiation Shielding Design
Having Xspect determine the shielding requirements for your site can prove beneficial. We can provide recommendations regarding system placement within the room, determination of shielding requirements, and completion of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Forms 1, 2, and 3.
Optimization of Imaging Equipment
We will work with your site to reduce doses delivered to patients while ensuring (or improving) the image quality desired.
Dose/Risk Assessment and Image Quality Concerns
With having certified medical physicists on-board, Xspect can provide you with a confident assessment of the dose and risk to an individual (patient, staff, or fetus). Xspect will investigate an image quality issue with your modality and provide feedback in order to improve the quality of your site’s images.
In-services
Xspect can provide information sessions to your site’s MRT’s, managers, and radiologists including the physics of medical imaging equipment, quality control, and radiation protection.
